Inkstiq
Inkstiq was made as my very first typeface, made using Glyphs Mini. It is meant to be an expressive display face inspired by typography for the Cure's album, the Head on the Door. Instead of worrying about precise, conventional letterforms, I wanted to pursue personal expression and spontaneity.
Every glyph for Inkstiq was made by dipping the end of a paintbrush in ink instead of its hairy end, thus the name. This ended up giving the typeface organic variation in its letterforms that could not have been achieved through conventional sketching methods.
As a teaser for what it could look like in action, I used it on a vinyl album cover mockup. For the type sample, I used Inkstiq to make some ASCII art to emphasize its artistic qualities, and to hopefully inspire potential use cases for whoever wants to use it.
